The Rentals

Hello, dear Rentals board! I'm new on this board, but I was quite an active member on the old boards at therentals.org or some other site a few years back (I loved how dedicated people back then seemed to be, fox example, we made a tribute recording that we gave to Matt). While it's nice to see people still show some interest in the band, I'm a bit surprised there are almost more spam messages on this board than there are real messages.

About the possible hiatus: it would be really strange if Matt went on hiatus right now, after releasing what easily could be considered as his best musical and artistic effort.

I really do hope he is not in any financial trouble, or anything like that.
I mean I'm a bit worried, has anyone heard anything from him or others in the Rentals camp? And who are the Rentals nowadays? I read from wikipedia that at some point Lauren also left the band.

Any information about Matt and the gang would be very much appreciated.

Ps. Amazon.co.uk says the SAT box set is being released thru them Sept. 21. I'm really excited about this, since I've been a bit suspicious about ordering it from therentals.com, 'cause I've heard people who have ordered it from Europe have got extra taxes etc.

I may be remembering it wrong, but I think the citation used for that wiki entry about Lauren being out for a while was one of the weekly movies. Matt or someone said something to the effect of "we have to get all of her parts recorded because she'll be busy with ____". Sounded like she just had other committments at the time. As far as we know the lineup hasn't changed since before last year.

Hello friends,

It has been an exciting summer for The Rentals since Songs About Time was officially released. We are so humbled with the kind words and outpouring of love that all of you have been sending us. Your words have been a great encouragement and have generated a host of new ideas for the future.

We are currently exploring a variety of ways for The Rentals to team up with the Limited Edition Members to create something truly unique. We have a lot of ideas - some of them include the possibility of having your images featured in photography magazines, art gallery events and publishing a new book of photography comprised exclusively of images taken from the Limited Edition Community.

If you are interested in collaborating with The Rentals and would like to have your images be a part of any magazines articles, art gallery shows and/or be included in a photo-book, please get your images processed and join the Limited Edition On-line Community as soon as possible.

I have recently joined the On-line Community and have started leaving personal messages to let you know some stories behind your images.

I would also like to announce to everyone that starting next week The Rentals will be returning to the studio to focus our energy on making a new edition of Songs About Time. Our plan is to go through the 42 original tracks included in the four full-length albums and pick our favorite ten songs. Once we do that, we plan to re-approach, re-imagine, and re-mix those ten songs into one cohesive new album. Our hope is to have a full-scale commercial release so we can make this final edition of Songs About Time more widely available to everyone.

Once the commercial album is released, we will be able to focus our energies on performing live.  At that time, Limited Edition Members will be able to get in free to a Rentals show of their choice with the Event Invitation included in their Box Set.

Hi all,
Paanpa was right, SAT box sets are popping on amazon sites.
Maybe I should have wait to buy mine, maybe it could have been less expensive this way to get it to europe.
Selling through amazon should help to sell more.
Unfortunately, as I write this, SAT is not available on all these amazon sites.
(by the way, it is quite more expensive in France than in Germany)
