Okay, let's try this again.
I really want to do another tribute album (but a good one this time), and this is a good time to get the ball rolling as the boards seem a bit more active then they were 2 months ago.
If were going to do this I want to do it properly. I don't want any shitty robot songs. I want this to be about collaboration, between all of us. And by collaboration I mean, I don't want Jill singing back up on every song, I'd want to see you all playing on each others songs. I also don't want to rush this one, if it takes 6 months, then fine. Also I'm not going to do it like I did last time and have people claim songs on the board and then not let other people record them. Post on here the songs you want to record, if someone is already doing it, fine, don't let that stop you, I will simply choose the better one! I want some Matt Sharp solo songs on here (if he has 3 albums i want 1/3 of it from each album). So do Rentals songs, but try Matt Sharp songs. One last rule no Weezer. No Weezer at all. No references, no robots reciting the conversation from Undone. No Weezer!!!
So who's interested?
By the way, I'm going to attempt to cover Goodbye West Coast, steel guitar and all.

I'm down with that.........not sure what I want to do, but it'll be a nice challenge on top of the other bands I'm doing.  Got a quick question though, do you want only songs that weren't done on that other tribute album or is anything fair game?

Hey guys, I'm new, this is my first post. I'm totally down for any sort of collaboration. I play guitar and I've been playing a moog mg-1 for a couple years now.

IM me or E-mail me if you want some help

I may do "the love I'm searching for" .. I've been trying to write a good cover of it for some time now... Sort of a cross of the "for the ladies.. " with the "RotR" version, with a little change thrown in...

I also would like to do a "what if a matt solo song was performed by the 1996 Rentals" .. We'll see if that works out =)

(I think that would make a cool tribute CD heh)

My band is doing California tomorrow, but that isn't very Board.  I'll try to come up with something and then foist the file upon you folk and see what you can do with it.

Anything is fair game! As long as it was recorded by The Rentals or by Matt Sharp. Or if it was a song he wrote but hasn't recorded (like Time To Come Home or Time's Song)

with this getting started back up, someone needs to repost those tabs off halcyon's site somewhere. i've got my friend fender and all i can find online are friend of p and getting by tabs.

im going to try and do "hey what you gonna do" and i want sweetness and tenderness but that might be hard

I love that "take a solo song and make it a rentals kind of thing" I think I'm gonna take goodbye west coast and 1996 it up. I have a drummer and a bassist who both ADORE the rentals as well as an analog synth player. I think I'm gonna go for it!!!

No Colorado. Sadly the only solo song tabbed was GWC. Weezer.com has a Mrs. Young tab.
