There is a guy on twitter (calicosmusic) who has had a series of tweets regarding this. At first, he recieved his box with no signatures and was kind of upset. I retweeted him saying that I wasn't very pleased either. Now, he is saying "got a very sincere email from matt sharp today. He is going to make it right. What a great stand up band."

If this is true, awesome. But I haven't gotten an email, and I've been twittering my little heart out about this boxset for the past year and two months. I love the Rentals. I love this project and I fully support them for the hard work they've put into it. But, I just feel kind of cheated, you know.

I definitely won't return it. I will probably get it and freak out and be super excited, but it upsets me that it is ending up like this.

I'm a little miffed as well. I completely deleted the email about it being shipped since it went to my gmail spam folder. I came back from running errands Saturday morning to find a notice on my door that fedex had missed me. They won't try again until Tuesday and I need to leave a sticker on my door with my signature stating it's ok to just leave the box on my porch.

It's not really the rentals fault this time, but it kinda adds to the frustration of the whole thing. I feel for you guys who ordered the super deluxe stuff with signatures and passes. Any news on that front about why they're not touring right now?

none what so ever, but given the way all of this is working out it may take a while before we know anything.
...of course you could always take the initiative and e-mail Kyle

I always feel like I am bothering Kyle when I email him, but seriously, the communication with this project is just sucking.

That's because you are bothering him when you e-mail him. j/k

Of course no one would have to bother Kyle if the either website was updated regularly or there were regular posts on this forum.

I received my deluxe edition today. As you see it looks really impressive and makes me somewhat sad I deemed the limited edition out of my price range.
It includes the 3 E.P's each one has got four bonus tracks. A fourth CD containing the score from the "Films About Weeks" series. A booklet for the cd's.
"Films About Weeks" DVD this also comes with it's own booklet. And finally "Photographs About Days" - the hardcover book containing the test reels.
The only dissapointment was that my set also was not signed.

the only things you are really missing between the two are the four LPs and the roll of film. So I have to ask myself, are those things REALLY worth another $150?

it IS a lot of money, but it depends what's on the roll of film + earlier tonight I was listening to another vinyl records and afterwards I was really sad that I didn't have the Songs About Time vinyl to put on next.

I just received my package today.  I got January 21st.  I will admit the packaging is pretty nice, but is the only signature everyone getting on the "How to Develop a Film" card? I was a little disappointed by that.

signatures never did much for me, so I can't say it's all that disappointing...however, the whole ordeal at this point feels rather anti-climatic.

still trying to figure out if I'll ever be able to use my VIP backstage passes

Got mine today too. The booklet for the Films About Weeks DVD says it also includes the digital shots used for the calender on the website.

The B sides of the first 3 CDs all have another version of a song on the A side. 2 of the B sides are Fall Into The Eve and Colorado, so we've heard those before. I don't recognize the names of any of the other B side songs.

I gotta say. I'm very impressed. They really made up for the delays with all the little extras. The songs on the CDs were remastered (but it's not really clear why). Also, the 4th CD isn't just the score for the Films About Weeks movies. Most of them are remixes or new versions of those songs.

I'm really digging the way these things are put together, even though I was psyched for the previous mockup pics on the website. The discs are kinda hard to get back on the pegs in the set though. And of course it's not signed. Other than those 2 minor gripes, I'm really pleased with this set.

I was going to take pics last night, but I forgot to recharge the battery for my digital cam.

...and yes getting the CD's back into the pegs is a pain

So, anyone else get the limited deluxe boxset?  I was March 30.  The records that came with my set are mislabeled LP1 is actually LP2, LP2 is acutally LP3 and LP3 is actually LP1.  LP4 is LP4.  Thankfully the labeling is just wrong, I had a brief moment of terror thinking that one of the LPs was missing completely. Did this happen to anyone else?

Everything else about the package seems awesome. I'm going to have to find a photo lab to get my pictures done.

I don't mind that the only signature was Matt's on on that little card, that was hardly ever something I cared about.  I was a little disappointed they changed the personalized message without saying a word though, that's the bigger crime.

Anyway, what's everyone's take on the B-sides?  Mine came today and I just got home from work, so I'm sorting through that stuff now.

Another thought, all the deluxe sets are getting four CDs right? One more than advertised? Sort of eliminating the exclusive vinyl tracks?
