Food for thought if you will...I want to see some serious discussion

what do you think? Each album has a definitive sound...taking in different musical influences...each with different moods...

Recording in Los Angeles....free of major label producers. It seems as if this will be more influenced by the day-to-day routine on the homefront, and maybe matt's experiences in TN...

Lo-fi like Guided By Voices or a Hi-fi wall of sound?

Rather than what we want out of this 3rd album, what are we predicting?

Will there be hype in the press (spin, rolling stone, kerrang, etc.)...Will there be promotion out in the field? Am I asking everyone here too many questions? What are we in store for?

i have no idea what to expect. but i'm guessing that he'll want to take full advantage of being in a 'rock' band for the moment and produce something heavy like rotr. just a guess. he seems nostalgic for the big heavy bass that 'needs to be tamed'. atleast i hope that's the case. i'm sure he won't dissappoint in any event. i like smm too but i'd love to hear some really heavy rentals again.

Matt's progressed as a song writer, I mean just look at the lyrics on "Thoughts From A Slow Train" or "Some Days" or "All Those Dreams" etc etc etc. So I'm expecting, or atleast hoping, that Matt will continue to progress with his lyrics in the new Rentals.

I have the feeling it will be something like ROTR sound
taken to the next level.

Can't hardly wait.

The Rentals release their new album....."The Rentals"....also known as The Red Album.....nah, Matt's not that dumb, it'll be a mix of Return of, 7MM and his solo stuff: so introspective lyrics, a nice set of moog inspired rock and great lo-fi-ish production....I hope.

The fact that he actually considered returning to Weezer really makes me worry.  Although I guess he has yet to put out, or be involved with, a bad album.  If I had to guess I'd say more like his recent solo work, but I'd like to see heavy moog and heavy bass for sure.

I want more 7mm style of music, I havent heard any of matts more recent songs, But I would love more 7mm style songs. I dont think I want anything new from the band. And I dont think I want them too become mainstream, the rentals are like a cult type band, its like your special or something when your a fan cause there arent tha many of you. Now I wont stop listening too there music if they become mainstream, but I think they will loose some of there magic if they doo become mainstream.

it will def be more like 7mm. matt has all these influences and wont be able to concertrate on one. he has his soft solo stuff, garvy j's influence of ambient love music, goldneboy's popy, but sincere style, with matt's love for rocking out like he talks about in his message, and all that on top of the new members influences...whatever they may be.  I think we can expect a little of everything, but with more organization

Since the album hasn't been recorded, the band line up apparently isn't 100% confirmed, and there isn't even a record label, no.
