I remember hearing about the Black Sessions a long long time ago. Seems odd that it's on vinyl though, so I'd be really really suspicious if I was you

thanks for the reply spaz, i emailed the seller and they assured me its legit. Apparentely it was originally bought in Japan, and with a bit of google searching- the same LP seems to come up on some japanese websites. So all seems above board i guess.

Its only a dollar at the moment so if you win it you wont be loosing your life's savings, and if it turns out to be a fake you will at least have a new Frisbee to play with. So I say go for it.

I'm chiming in a little late, but that's nothing but a vinyl bootleg of the Black Sessions with "California" from the Poop Alley Tapes added at the beginning. If you really want the Black Sessions, try to get one of the legit CD promos.
Sorry for being late.

Hi, Thanks for the track list of the vinyl bootleg. I have the mp3 from the Rentals black session (Black Session #94 05/04/1996) that were available on the FTP. The comments from radio cast are cut in the mp3 I have.
I was wondering I someone has informations on this bootleg or event better owns it (the Japanese vinyl LP, the bootleg CD from Sangatte Records, or a private tape from broadcast) (by the way, Sangatte Records bootlegs are not legit, they seems to have no relation with the radio that holds the show) How is the sound quality of the Japanese vinyl LP? Are comments cut between songs? How is the sound quality of the Sangatte bootleg (they are supposedly made from lossy sources)? Are comments cut between songs? Is the support a pressed CD or a CD-R? (I am trying to order from them, but they accept Paypal payments, and Paypal is not working for me, too bad) Any info is welcome, thanks in advance.
(I have found another mp3 on a French site, it supposed to be the introduction to this session, but it's just a list of group members playing that day) (By the way, I was working on a translation of French comments for this forum)
Regards

Hi, I am very sad, the Rentals Black Session from 1996 was available for downloading for free during the whole month of January 2009 on a French site ( http://www.blacksessions.fr/). (Every month they put a black session in mp3 format (separate per file + the full show), you can even vote for the next one) I left a message on the forum, but no luck so far. Did you know that The Rentals were expected to cover Oasis "Champagne Supernova" instead of Blur "Tracy Jacks"? (that what is stated in French comments between the songs) Regards

Hi, Glad to hear that the FTP is back again. Do not worry, I made a backup of the (your?) FTP last time it was up, and I still have it, so I am not going to abuse. But thanks for putting this available back again. Regards (P.S.: check your PM)

i'm new to the forum, but while attempting to download from this FTP two songs from Excellent Stocking Stuffer (8 and 20) gave me trojan warnings. also on little russel street 3 and 18 seem to be the same issue.
just thought i would put this out as a warning if anyone else has tried yet. I was very excited to find these songs as my drive crashed and hope that those missing songs can be replaced!
