it better be the entire gay parade album, otherwise me and kevin barnes are gonna have a knife fight at the philly show.
sharpen your knife. not one gay parade song. this time they did play a wide variety of stuff from different albums...just nothing off gay parade. they also played a few cover songs such as prince.  it was cool, but not as good as i hoped

yeah, the russian hat was at the philly show as well.  and what's the slut song?  they did some slow song which seemed more like an improved break where he was just rambling and mentioned some shit about excite bike and legend of zelda or something.

come on people  - more posts.  dont tell me your just "listening" to music.  You have to go out and "FEEL" it "EXPERIENCE" it.  I have an excuse, I'm old(er) have a career and cant go out 2x a week for concerts like I use to during college, or even grad school.  What's your excuses?

PLEASE - I'll admit i'm kind of a loser and living vicariously through you guys, I need more info on what you "young hep cats" (OK i'm not that old) are going out to see nowadays.

a friend convinced me to go see los abandoned again, they're playing at SxSW according to my Echo/Spaceland E-memo update.  But I only went cause this cool Japanese band was playing.
POLYSICS - anyone heard of em?
I always loved fun Japanese Indie/powerpop bands - remember Shonen Knife?
anyways Polysics rocked and did this hot synthy version of the Knacks "MY SHARONA"

I've seen a few other bands at local clubs/bars but nothing major (or worth mentioning).
I wanna see STEREOLAB - I think they're playing on the 18 here in L.A.
I doubt i'm going to Coachella just to see LADYTRON.
Dinosaur JR. is playing next month at the TROUBADOR! - if it doesnt sell out or become an "industry only" event i'm there.

So OK guys keep going out - its the best way to see/hear all the music and mojo you'll rip off when you start your own bands!

That was really odd.  However, someone made a really funny comment: How the hell did one of my all time fave bands /songs / music vids end up associated with weed? - Is "friends of P" code for some really powerfull, extra sticky strain of Kush? - Ooo Woo Hoo Hoo indeed!

this week kicks some shit.
Saw mates of state on sunday along with some other local bands.
Went out to see girl in a coma, another local band and stayed for the start, they were okay.
on friday i'm going to catch dressy bessy during the day at some music store at austin
and stay the day, someone recommended snow patrol the other day so i'm going to stubbs to check out

 Vega 4  8:00 p.m.  London UK  Rock
White Rose Movement  9:00 p.m.  London UK  Rock
The Subways  10:00 p.m.  Welwyn Garden City UK  Rock
Metric  11:00 p.m.  Toronto ON  Rock
The Magic Numbers  12:00 a.m.  London UK  Rock
Snow Patrol  1:00 a.m.  London UK  Rock

as long as that isn't sold out,
and on saturday i plan on checking out a bunch of merge recs artists at antones:

White Whale  8:00 p.m.  Lawrence KS  Rock
Annie Hayden  9:00 p.m.  New York NY  Pop
The Essex Green  10:00 p.m.  Brooklyn NY  Rock
Superchunk  11:00 p.m.  Chapel Hill NC  Rock
Camera Obscura  12:00 a.m.  Glasgow UK  Rock
Robert Pollard  1:00 a.m.  Dayton OH  Rock

this should make up for me not going to the austin city limits festival.
this spring break is kicking ass so far.

Mates of State - i've always wanted to see them - I hear they're just an organ/drum combo and have a real powerful dynamic between them onstage.  I expect a full report. . . .
Dressy Bessy  - what can i say, you're very lucky.  When i saw them here i caught myself thinking "I wish this was a local band i would see them every time they played" are they from Denver?  I would recommend catching Los Abandoned at SxSW while your down there but you seem to have your plate full.
last but not least - let me know how The Subways were.

definitely. the only band I've heard of from the friday show is Metric, but I'll have fun sitting through the show I know.
I hope they don't sell out, I've been able to get into other sxsw shows before without a badge, bracelet or whatever they
hand out to people attending.
I thought dressy bessy came from the north west, but honestly I think all girl indie bands come from the northwest.
And god, mates of state? they were just great. I just loaned out my two cds of them to a coworker, but yea,
organ and drum combo, the girl had two yamahas and a korg, and the guy played the drums. Quite honestly I only
had "my solo project" from and they didn't play that many songs from that but everything they played was awesome.
I was dancing even, and I'm not a dancing guy at shows. I'm more a swayer and nod yer head kinda guy. Tongue

dammit Eddy, you've just reinforced my belief to always go with my gut instinct. I saw an add for them performing at some local club and all it had was a pic of the duo and their name, no write up or anything.  I had a gut feeling that they would be a cool act.  I didn't go and of course since then i've heard nothing but great things.

I had the same first reaction to Dresden Dolls and Fiery Furnaces. I hear now of course, that they're great and I should of seen them the first time around in small venues which I love.  Both heavy piano/organ/synth driven.  Something all us on THE RENTALS site would appreciate.

Anyone else have input on these bands?
From now on i'm gonna see all bands with a guy+girl+synth. . . . I wish I had the time.
P.S.  Justin - Whatever happened to AUDIO/VIDEO CLUB? ---->Justin + Cherielynn Westrich + Moogs = FUN!
