Hi,

Have a look at the following video:

It's a duo of 2 French groups (Dionysos, Louise Attaque) covering Blur "Song 2".
It was in 2006 on a French music TV program (Taratata).

I enjoy this cover, they produce something different (respecting the original but with their own touch, i.e. a good cover), full of energy, and you still recognize the base song.
I am sure the Rentals could do it even better (Matt would find another way to sing it, Lauren would be great for the violin part Smiley ).
In this live, you can hear the girl joining the singers in the end, maybe they should have use more men/women harmonics (instead of only the 2 lead singers) as Matt use to.
Maybe you noticed too that the group features guitars, drums, keyboards and violins.
I love the silences series at the end (shhhhhhhhhhhh!!), with only the violin used as a ukulele just before the big explosions.
According to last little life EP and Colorado song, the Rentals are going in a less rock way (comparing to ROTR and 7MM) (would you say more pop oriented?). I wonder what will be on the next CD. (note: I am not against changes, I enjoy Damon Albarn evolutions from disk to disk for example)(and if an artist produces always the same style, it often ends being compared with previous opus)(I think of a French writer (JC Grangé), who wrote a sci-fi book after 2 big hit suspense thrillers, because he knew that critics where waiting for a third book in the same line as previous ones, and that it would have been hard to keep the level).
Anyway, I would really love to hear the rentals covering a song (I know they did Blur "Tracy Jack", Walk on the wild side,...) but with the Rentals touch. Song 2 is a good candidate as you can see/hear.
Which song would you like to be covered by The Rentals in a Rentals way?

Regards
